The Breaking Point #1
OK, we will accept the fact that what we are attempting to do is near impossible. To bring people together and to have them talk passionately about the arts and attempt to, in a civilized fervor, woo others to conversion is, on the face of it, foolhardy. The very fact that we dare to mix the words “passion” and “arts” and “woo,” would make us candidates for the loony bin. But to make the further stipulation that such wooing, such evangelism, be done with civility and good cheer is to put us beyond all reach. We are doomed, or as a comic book writer might have written about a super-hero back in the 1960’s when comic writing was at its purple-est, Foredoomed!
So it is that we begin in peril, sans set-up and like Hitchcock getting right to the point in “Vertigo,” we take the breaking point as our starting point. All I can say is “Hang on!”
